The district is made up of 48 schools within nine attendance areas. Each area consists of a high school and the elementary and middle schools that feed into it. The district has 26 elementary schools, eleven middle schools, ten high schools, two career & technical academies, a Scholars Academy, and an alternative school.
Connect - an alternative secondary school program designed to ensure success for students who previously have experienced barriers in their academic pathway.
Scholars Academy - A partnership between HCS and Coastal Carolina University, the Scholars Academy provides quality education for advanced learners.
International Baccalaureate - The IB Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment. These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
